In 2012, ScreenRant.com responded to an upcoming Sight & Sound poll of best movies by compiling a list of their own top 10 movies of all time. Over a decade later, they created a top 50 list with a system that weighed the overall scores from the Internet Movie Database and Metacritic. Rotten Tomatoes: Top 100 Movies

Rotten Tomatoes may be the most famous movie review site in the world. They aggregate reviews from multiple sources and movies get a score from 0 to 100% based on how many of those reviews are positive.

They also rate the top movies of all time, but those lists are neither a straight rundown of movies scoring the best nor are they reflections of those movies receiving the most reviews. One would assume as that list is updated, the changes would merely reflect the inclusion of a few newer titles, but the lists have varied widely over the years (for example, see the lists referenced in the resources at the bottom of the page). Also, Rotten Tomatoes annoyingly updates their “Top 100 Movies of All Time” list without indicating any dates of revisions.

Rotten Tomatoes also puts out a list of the “200 Essential Movies to Watch Now” which is put together by their editorial staff, seemingly not driven by how the movies have been rated on the site. Again, they frustratingly don’t bother to post dates to show when this list was posted. I have found a couple of those lists which I’ve factored into the mix.

With all that in mind, Dave’s Movie Database assembled its own Rotten Tomatoes list by averaging three lists from over the years along with a ranking of the 300+ movies to have received 100% ratings over the years. Here are the results:

    This “suspenseful, nail-biting thriller” FS is “Hitchcock’s voyeuristic masterpiece.” FS “Of all Hitchcock’s films, this is the one which most reveals the man.” T95 “Tense script, excellent direction, occasional Hitchcockian gallows humor.” VD “Written by mystery writer Cornell Woolrich, the original screenplay had no love story or neighbors for…James Stewart’s character to spy on.     L.B. “Jeff” Jeffries (Stewart) is a wheelchair-bound photojournalist, confined to his New York City apartment to recover from a broken leg. To amuse himself, he spies on his neighbors through his rear window with binoculars and a telephoto camera.
